Day 10 - Laundry, Practice, Jersey Ceremony, Family and Friends

After breakfast we drove to a laundromat to do our personal laundry.  It's more fun doing laundry with other people.  Before we knew it, KTP was back to pick us up and we were eating (again!).  We had an earlier lunch today (11:15am) so we could be ready for our captain's practice at 1pm.

During the practice, a woman associated with the fields came up to us and told us that we weren't allowed to do any scrums or lineouts.  We were already not allowed to wear cleats (probably to preserve the grass on the main field), but not being able to do set pieces seemed crazy.  It turned out to be ok after we switched to a practice field (not the one we'll play on tomorrow) and the practice wrapped up with some good intensity.

It was hot during our practice and it will be hot again tomorrow during our noon-time game.  The roster has been announced officially and I'll be starting tomorrow (with a lot of my other NY teammates).  The team is excited and itching to play; we feel ready and have put ourselves on "slow simmer" until tomorrow.  After our practice we had a video session and then dinner.  The backs and fwds had quick meetings before the jersey ceremony and then our family and friends were allowed in and we started the ceremony.  It was great to see so many people filling the back of the room.

My parents came in today and I squeezed in a quick snack at Arby's with them.  It was a bit weird to go out to get food (since we basically have buffets every meal), but with such an early lunch and with dinner at 7, there was no way I could last that long without food!  They're staying at the same hotel as the team, so it makes it easy to see them when I have those random bits of free time.

At the jersey ceremony, it was funny because my friend Paco is also here (touring with the NYRC entourage) and when they asked my family to stand up she had no idea that my real parents were there and stood up as if she was the proud mom.  It was cute that all 3 of them stood up, because anyone that came up here IS our family.  There was a lot of picture-taking and milling around after the jersey ceremony.  I introduced my folks to some of the team and some of our NY fans.  My dad bought a shirt to be part of the "sea of red" and I gave my mom mine so they would be part of the united front tomorrow.

We hung out for a bit with our fans at the lounge downstairs and now I'm about to do an Epsom salt bath and visualize for the game tomorrow.  Ireland, here we come!!!
