Get a Weighted Ball!

Definitely helps to develop your pass and is especially helpful for a scrumhalf.  After my workout this morning, I spent some time throwing spirals high up into the air as I walked around McCarren Park (my neighborhood track!).  John McGeachy has been helping some of the NY backs with ball handling and likes to use the weighted ball to warm up and increase the distance of our passes.

It should go without saying that passing with a friend is better so can do some live passing drills with it.  The weighted ball really helps you focus on technique and strengthens your core and wrists over time.  Always remember to switch back to the regular ball after working with the weighted ball because the technique is a bit different and you want to assimilate what your body learned with the weighted ball into how you pass the regular ball.  Plus, you feel cool when the regular ball is super light and you can pass twice as far!

Thank you to my favorite athletic supporter, Rob Sarvis, for buying my the weighted ball a few years ago!
